Tawa Paneer
Tawa is the Indian name of griddle / skillet / flat pan, which is basically made of iron. Tawa Paneer is a marinated cottage cheese chunks is fried using the Tawa. Today i will teach you how to prepare Tawa Paneer in simple steps using simple ingredients at home.

Serving : 2-3 persons
Ingredients :
- Paneer / Cottage Cheese - 200 grams
- Curd / Dahi - 1 1/2 tablespoon
- Onion - 1 cup fine chopped
- Tomato - 1/2 cup fine chopped
- Green Chili - 1 tablespoon fine chopped
- Coriander Leaf - 2 tablespoon fine chopped
- Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 1/2 tablespoon
- Lemon Juice - 1 tablespoon
- Coriander Seeds - 1/2 tablespoon
- Cumin Seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - according to taste
- Red Chili Powder - 1/4 teaspoon
- Garam Masala - 1 teapoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Oil - 2 tablespoon

Steps :

2. Take curd / dahi in a bowl, add little bit of salt, lemon juice, turmeric powder and red chili powder and mix them with curd / dahi till it turns smooth paste.
3. Add the curd / dahi mixture in the paneer / cottage cheese.
4. Coat the paneer / cottage cheese with the curd / dahi mixture. Cover and let it marinate for 10 minutes.
5. Heat a tawa / skillet, here I am using cast iron griddle, you can use any one of them (preferably use iron utensil), add coriander and cumin seeds and roast them on medium flame for 4-5 minutes.
6. Once seeds are roasted, take them out in a mortar and let it cool down.
7. Make a coarse powder, take them out in a bowl and keep it side.
8. Heat the tawa / griddle on medium flame, add 2 tablespoon of oil and fry the marinated paneer / cottage cheese till it turns little brown. Here I am using the same griddle.
9. Turn the panner / cottage cheese and fry from all the sides. Once done, take them out in a bowl and keep it side.
10. Heat the tawa / skillet on medium heat, add coarsely made powder and saute it for 30 seconds.
11. Add fine chopped onion and saute for for 2-3 minutes on medium flame.
12. Add ginger garlic paste and fine chopped green chili. Saute them with onion till raw smell of ginger and garlic disappears.
13. Add chopped tomatoes and mix well.
14. Add salt and turmeric, mix well and cook till the mixture starts separating oil from the sides.
15. Add fried paneer / cottage cheese and garam masala powder. Mix well.
16. Add coriander leaf and mix well.
17. Serve hot and enjoy with your favorite roti or naan.
