Dosa is a very popular dish in Southern India. Normal dosa is made with rice flour and pulses. Rava Dosa is made with Rava(Semolina). Rava Dosa has unique flavor and taste and is very crispy, it can be served with chutney and sambhar. Today I will cover how one can prepare rava dosa at home using simple ingredients and in simple steps. This can be served during morning breakfast or as evening snack.
Preparation Time : 10 minutes
Resting Time : 15 minutes
Serving : 2-3 minutes
Ingredients :
  1. Rava / Semolina / Sooji - 1 cup
  2. Rice Flour - 1/2 cup
  3. All Purpose Flour - 2 tablespoon
  4. Curd / Dahi - 2 1/2 tablespoon
  5. Onion - 2 1/2 tablespoon fine chopped
  6. Ginger - 1 tablespoon fine chopped
  7. Green Chili - 1 tablespoon fine chopped
  8. Cumin Seeds - 1 teaspoon
  9. Black Pepper Powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  10. Salt - according to taste
  11. Curry Leaf - 1 tablespoon
  12. Water - 2 1/2 cup
  13. Oil - for drizzling
( I have given the link of ingredients at the end of the recipe where you can buy them easily)
Steps :
1. Here are all the ingredients. Here I forgot to take picture of cumin seeds but please add it to the list of ingredients.
2. Take Rava/Sooji , rice flour and all purpose flour in a mixing bowl and mixture them roughly.
3. Add all the dry ingredients along with salt and mix well. Here I am using dried and crushed  curry leaf, you can use fresh fine chopped curry leaf.
4. Add curd / dahi and mix the mixture.
5. Add 1 cup of water and mix the mixture till it turns lump free.
6. Add 1 1/2 cup of water and mix the mixture. Make a very runny batter, cover and let it rest for 15 minutes so rice flour and rava / sooji absorbs sufficient water.
7. Add onion, green chili and ginger and mix well. You can adjust the consistency of the batter by adding more water if it seems thick to you.
8. Add cumin seeds and mix in the mixture.
9. Heat a Tawa / griddle on high heat (preferably use non stick tawa), add 1-2 ladle of the batter on the very hot tawa / griddle. The batter will form a structure similar to net because it contains lots of water. Mix the batter really well before every time you putting it on tawa / griddle.
 10. Drizzle 1 teaspoon of oil on the dosa and let it cook on high heat till turns brown.
11. The dosa is ready now. Slightly separate the dosa from the sides and roll it.
12. Serve the hot dosa with sambhar and coconut and peanut dip (click here for recipe) and enjoy.
