Bhakarwadi
Bhakarwadi snack is popular in western India. Its layers are very crispy rolled in tangy, spicy and little bit sweet masala. It is generally served with tea / coffee and enjoyed as snack or sides. Today I am sharing simple recipe of bhakawadi with simple steps.
Preparation Time : 15 minutes
Resting Time : 20 minutes
Frying Time : 4-5 minutes
Ingredients :
For Dough :
- All Purpose Flour - 1 cup
- Chickpea Flour / Besan - 1/4 cup
- Turmeric Powder - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Oil - 2 tablespoon
- Water - for kneading
For Masala :
- Dry Coconut - 2 tablespoon
- White Sesame Seeds - 1 1/2 tablespoon
- Cumin Seeds - 1 tablespoon
- Whole Coriander Seeds - 2 tablespoon
- Red Chili Powder - 1 tablespoon
- Sugar - 1 1/2 tablespoon
- Turmeric Powder - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Fennel Seeds - 1 tablespoon
Steps :
1. Here are all the ingredients for dough.
2. Take all the ingredients of dough in a big bowl and mix well.
3. Add 2 tablespoon of oil in the flour and mix well till flour turns crumbly.
4. The dough will start to combine.
5. Add little bit of water and knead the dough.
6. Knead the dough smooth and stiff. Cover the dough and let it rest for 20 minutes.
7. Here are all the ingredients for the masala.
8. Take all the ingredients in a grinder and grind it to a coarse powder.
9. The powder is ready. Do not make very fine powder. Keep it side.
10. Divide the dough in equal parts. Here I have divided the dough in 2 equal parts, you can divide the dough as per your convenience of rolling.
11. Smooth one ball, apply little bit of oil and roll it to a thin sheet. Do not make very thin sheet.
12. Put half of the made masala on the rolled sheet and spread it all over the sheet.
13. The sheet is ready to roll.
14. Roll the sheet tightly in a log.
15. Once rolled, press and roll again gently to make the log little bit stretched and thin.
16. Cut the log in pieces of 1/2 inches apart.
17. Take one part and press it slightly to make it round and little flat.
18. Make all the bhakarwadi like this.
19. Heat oil in a pan / wok on medium flame, fry the made bhakarwadi in medium hot oil till it turns golden brown.
20. Enjoy the bhakarwadi as snack with tea/ coffee. Keep it in a air tight container and store it for 1 month.
