Potato Smiley
It's impossible not to get overwhelmed with joy when looking at these little happy and cute faces. With a few ingredients and simple steps you can make them at and can store it for 2-3 months.
Preparation Time : 15-20 minutesFrying Time : 1-2 minutes
Ingredients :
- Potato - 5-6 boiled
- Corn Starch - 3-4 tablespoon
- Garlic Powder - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - According to tatse
- Red Chili Flakes - 1 teaspoon
- Oil - 1 tablespoon + for frying
( I have given the link of ingredients at the end of the recipe where you can buy them easily)
Steps :
1. Here are all the ingredients. I have already boiled and peeled the potatoes.
2. Grate the boiled potatoes for the fine dough.
3. Take out the grated potatoes in a big bowl.
4. Add salt, garlic powder and chili flakes and mix well.
5. Mash the grated potatoes with the seasonings. It combines to form a dough.
6. Add 3-4 tablespoon of corn starch and combine well with the mashed potaoes.
7. Once corn starch gets combined with the mashed potatoes, it forms in perfect dough consistency.
8. Add 1 tablespoon of oil to make the dough little smooth.
9. Combine the oil in the dough very well for the smooth consistency.
10. Take a cling wrap/ plastic sheet on a flat surface (here I am using an oven tray) and grease the half plastic sheet with little bit of oil.
11. Put the mashed potato dough on the greased surface.
12. Cover the dough with the second half of the plastic wrap.
13. Roll the dough with a rolling pin in 1/2 centimeter thick sheet.
14. Unwrap the plastic wrap from rolled dough, cut small circles with the help of a cookie cutter/ small bowl/ small glass. The face is ready for the smiley.
15. Put the cut faces on the plastic sheet again and use a fresh straw to make the eyes of the face.
16. Make the eyes in all the faces.
17. Take a butter/normal knife to give smiles to the face. Make a small slit and pull down a little bit for the smile.
18. Make smiles in all the faces.
19. Heat oil in a pan/wok on medium flame, deep fry the ready smiley faces. Fry from both sides for 1-2 minutes or till golden brown.
Note: If you want to store, fry the smileys for 30 seconds, let it cool down completely and store in a zip lock bag in freezer. You can easily store it for 2-3 months. Defrost it whenever you want to eat it and fry till golden brown. Serve hot.
20. Drain the fried smileys in a kitchen towel.
21. Serve the smileys with some tomato ketchup.
22. Enjoy.
