  Methi Thepla

Methi Thepla is a healthy recipe very popular in North Indian Cuisine. It is served as main course or appetizer. Today I am making this recipe with very simple ingredients.
Preparation Time : 10 minutes
Kneading Time : 5 minutes
Resting Time : 10 minutes
Serving : 2-3 persons
Ingredients : 

  1. Whole Wheat Flour - 1 cup
  2. Fresh Methi/ Fenugreek Leaf - 1 cup chopped
  3. Onion - 1 fine chopped
  4. Ginger - 1 inch fine chopped
  5. Green Chili - 1 fine chopped
  6. Chickpea Flour / Besan - 1/4 cup 
  7. Turmeric Powder - 1 teaspoon
  8. Cumin Seeds - 1 teaspoon
  9. Salt - according to taste
  10. Asafoetida Powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  11. Oil - 1 tablespoon + for 
  12. Water - for kneading

Steps:
1. Here are all the ingredients. 
2. Take whole wheat flour and gram flour/ besan in a big mixing bowl, add salt, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, asafoetida powder and mix well with the flour.
3. Add fenugreek leaf/ methi, chopped oinions, chopped ginger, chopped green chili and mix well all the ingredients. Squeeze everything to release their water while mixing. 
4. Add little bit of water and knead to a stiff dough. Do not make the dough very soft.
5. Once the mixture forms a dough shape, add 1 tablespoon of oil and knead till it gets smooth in texture.
6. The dough is ready and smooth, cover and let it rest for 10 minutes.
7. After 10 minutes, divide the dough in small and equal portions. 
6. Smooth the ball, dust little bit of flour on the ball.
7. Roll the ball into thin thepla. 
8. Heat a tawa/ frying pan, put the rolled thepla on the hot tawa/ frying pan and cook slightly from one side.
9. Flip on other side and cook slighlty.
10. Put half tablespoon of oil on both the sides and roast till golden brown.
11. The thepla is ready now.
12. Serve hot with some tomato sour and sweet chutni and some raita.
